About Me
In 2006, after four years in the business world, I started a journey to further my education as well as make a change in my career goals…
I entered the School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) program in August of 2006, and the two and a half years it has taken me to complete my journey to a Masters in Library Science (MLS) have flown by.
With my background experience in finance, my MLS coursework, and my reference experience in a library, I have a very broad and useful set of skills. For example, I can be content crunching numbers or balancing a budget, but I am equally content working with patrons answering reference questions and hunting for information. I also enjoy instructing patrons and teaching information literacy skills. Ideally, I would like to be employed in a position where I can do a little of both behind the scenes running of a library along with interacting with patrons.
The SLIM program, through Emporia State University, along with my practical job experience has prepared me for a rewarding career in library and information management.
